No costume scares an employer like a nurse on the picket line

It’s all tricks and no treats from Ascension as nurses at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo near contract expiration on November 11. The nurses are inviting the community and their fellow MNA union siblings to join them at their Informational Picket on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 am – 12 pm outside the hospital as they advocate for their patients and each other. Please wear RED and bring along your colleagues, family and friends!

Nurses at UPHS-Bell have risen U.P!

A HUGE congratulations to UPHS-Bell RNs on winning their union this month in an astounding 51-0 UNANIMOUS vote! Across the Upper Peninsula, nurses and healthcare professionals are #RisingUP in the fight to put patients over profits and ensure the best care for their communities!

MNA-UMPNC Nurses ratify new contract!

Nurses at the University of Michigan voted overwhelmingly to ratify a tentative agreement earlier this month after working without a contract since July 1.

“This contract provides important investments in nurses and protections for patients that MNA-UMPNC nurses and our community fought hard for over the past six months,” said Renee Curtis, RN, president of MNA-UMPNC. “We’re excited about being able to hold the employer accountable for safe nurse-to-patient ratios and end dangerous mandatory overtime. Strong wage increases and bonuses will help attract and retain the nurses we need to take care of our patients.”

2022 Election – Vote for Pro-Nurse Candidates!

Voting has started for the 2022 election! The traditional Election day is on Tuesday, Nov. 8th and polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. However, you also have the option to vote early in-person! Simply visit your local clerk’s office during business hours to request a ballot, and you can vote right there!

Not sure what is on the ballot? Visit Michigan.gov/vote to check your voter registration, find your clerk’s information, and see a sample ballot. For members who are not registered to vote, new laws also allow for same-day voter registration in Michigan! Please note, you must visit your local clerk’s office prior to Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. to sign up.

For absentee voters who have not yet voted, your ballot may not arrive in time if sent via mail. To ensure your vote is counted, you should deliver your ballot in person to your local clerk’s office or a designated drop box.

Lastly, your fellow MNA members have carefully screened candidates and made endorsement recommendations. If you’d like to see MNA endorsements or donate to the nonpartisan MNA PAC (which receives no union dues), please visit www.minursespac.org.
