LAST CALL!

Are you interested in getting more involved? TODAY IS THE LAST DAY for submissions for all Biography & Consents for elected positions at MNA! To appear on the draft ballot for the House of Delegates, you must submit your bio & consent by midnight tonight! Positions for this year’s election include President, Treasurer, five director-at-large seats, Impartial Committee and Nominations Committee.

The Safe Patient Care Act has more momentum than ever!

Big news! MNA’s bipartisan Safe Patient Care Act has been introduced with more sponsors and cosponsors than ever – 60+! This is the best chance in decades to push this life-saving legislation across the finish line.

The wealthy hospital lobby is already going all out to protect the status quo. To win, we need to shore up our resources. That’s why we’re asking every member to pitch in just $5 a month to MNA’s nonpartisan PAC, which relies solely on voluntary donations. Together, we can make sure nurses and healthcare professionals have a strong voice at the Capitol, too.

Safe Patient Care Act state House sponsors (right to left) Reps. Betsy Coffia, Stephanie Young, and Carrie Rheingans hold the bills on the House floor before introducing them. The bills have bipartisan support and dozens of cosponsors. In the Senate, the sponsors are Sen. Sylvia Santana, Sen. Stephanie Chang, and Sen. Jeremy Moss.

McLaren Lapeer Picket

McLaren Lapeer RNs and community members picketed for a fair contract on May 12th, 2023. Lapeer RNs have since taken a strike authorization vote. Without a single no ballot cast, 100% of voting nurses chose to authorize their bargaining team to be able to call for a strike.

“We are fighting for the future of our community hospital,” said Chuck Johnson, RN. “We are fighting for the right to be able to work under conditions that allow us to provide the highest quality of care to our neighbors, families, and loved ones. We know that it’s possible to make McLaren Lapeer better, and we won’t rest until we’ve done so.”
