Join the Fight for Nurses at the Michigan Capitol!

Nurses across Michigan have voiced their passionate support for the Safe Patient Care Act, which would establish safe RN-to-patient ratios and limit mandatory overtime. Now, we are ready to take action! MNA has sponsored two upcoming opportunities for nurses to advocate directly to lawmakers.

Sign up for the MNA Advocacy Academy and join us at our virtual workshop on February 5th! Through this free, three-part program you will build the tools and knowledge to make an impact with lawmakers! Click the link below to sign-up and learn more about Advocacy Academy.

The MNA 2022 Capitol Action Day will take place in Lansing on Tuesday, March 22, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event is free for MNA members and nursing students and $35 for nonmembers, but space is limited. Sign up today by clicking here!

On this action-packed day, you will:

  • Learn and practice legislative advocacy skills with your peers
  • Get advocacy tips and insight from a panel of legislators
  • Take a group photo on the Capitol steps
  • Participate in face-to-face meetings with elected officials to share your concerns

Tell legislators it’s time for a safe-staffing law!

The bipartisan Safe Patient Care Act bills are awaiting a hearing in the state Senate or House. You can help by urging the chairs of these committees to hold a hearing. It just takes a minute to send an email using this link. Let them know this legislation matters to nurses and patients all across the state!
