Nurses and Health Professionals at Sparrow Hospital WIN Contract Extension in the Midst of Pandemic PECSH-MNA members voted to ratify a one-year extension to their contract by an overwhelming majority of 97% YES. This extension increases base wages for all members, improves shift differentials, and continues to guarantee high quality healthcare with no changes to health insurance plans. Michigan Medicine RNs Share Experiences with Other University Employees UMPNC-MNA RNs joined other workers at the University of Michigan (both union and not-yet-union) in sharing their experiences at a speak-out held by the All Campus Labor Council. Following the meeting, the ACLC sent a letter to President Schlissel demanding a joint meeting to discuss concerns about the University’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and their attitude towards workers. Michigan Medicine RNs join their fellow MNA members in forming coalitions to challenge systems as a whole. Nurses at Ascension hospitals and McLaren hospitals are also uniting with other workers to push back on the policies of the administration. At McLaren, the CEO of each of the hospitals in the coalition has agreed to have a meeting with the respective unions – even as the coalition continues to push for meeting with the head of the health system as a whole. |
