Borgess RNs Fight for Safe Staffing

Borgess RNs walked the informational picket line to call for a fair contract that puts safe staffing in writing. Braving wind and rain, they were joined by other union members and community supporters and were covered in the local news.

Click here to see an awesome speech by MNA Board Member Lori Batzloff calling on the CEO of Ascension to put patients before profits.

Borgess RNs are continuing to push for a fair contract and have pledged not to back down when it comes to doing what is right. Stay tuned for updates on how you can support them as they fight to put patients first.

UMPNC Nurses Say: Fix the Parking Crisis NOW!

Nurses at the University of Michigan Health System protested the groundbreaking ceremony for the new $920 million hospital the administration plans on building. Management has yet to offer any adequate plans to fix the parking situation that has already reached crisis levels without the addition of this new facility. The RNs were supported by State Representative Yousef Rabhi who wore an MNA pin in solidarity.

You can see video of the protest in this news article which covered the event.

Stop Workplace Violence

MNA is the only organization in the state advocating for a comprehensive plan that focuses on the approach of preventing violence against nurses and all health care workers. Our bipartisan bill (SB 303, HB 5089) would require hospitals and public health departments to create prevention plans with input from workers; provide training on de-escalation and workplace violence policies and procedures; and report assaults to police.

MNA also supports bills that increase criminal penalties against those who assault healthcare workers.

You can help by sharing your experiences with workplace violence here.
